Veterinary care and Community Support for animals who need us

Garden Sanctuary Veterinary Hospital (GSVH), formerly The Humane Center for Animal Welfare (HCAW) provides veterinary care and community services for the working animals, pets and the people who care for them.

Please contact us before bringing an animal to the centre

We do not operate an open-door intake policy for abandoned animals. Every case is discussed and assessed individually by our team, so we kindly ask that you call or WhatsApp us first — together we will find the best way to help.

Serving our working animals and our community

Care for the animals who work beside us.

Donkeys, horses, livestock such as goats and sheep, and other working animals carry livelihoods across our community. We support and provide access to veterinary care for them, and practical support for the families who depend on them.

From veterinary treatment to rehabilitation and adoption support, we work to improve the lives of animals in our care — including community cats and dogs.

Reaching the communities beyond the hospital

We hope to re-establish and develop our community outreach clinics, including a mobile veterinary clinic. Our aim is to make veterinary support more accessible to animals and communities beyond the hospital. The outreach services are part of our plans, but are not yet operating.

Featured story

A second chance, one small life at a time.

Behind every recovery is a team that never stops caring. Our dedicated veterinary staff give each patient their full attention — like this gentle cat, calmly examined under the surgical light before her treatment.

Education and awareness

Learning to care, from an early age.

As the Garden Sanctuary Veterinary Hospital, formerly the Humane Center for Animal Welfare, we are continuing our commitment to animal welfare education.

Our programme gives schoolchildren the chance to learn about animals and their care through activity booklets and a certificate of completion. It can be arranged with a school or completed by children individually.

Little Paws

For our youngest learners. Simple, playful activities that introduce kindness and gentle care for animals.

Each level comes with its own activity booklet and certificate of completion — so children are learning and achieving at the same time.

Bronze

For growing readers. Activity booklets that explore what animals need and how to look after them safely.

Each level comes with its own activity booklet and certificate of completion — so children are learning and achieving at the same time.

Silver

For older children. Deeper projects on animal welfare, working animals and caring for the community.

Each level comes with its own activity booklet and certificate of completion — so children are learning and achieving at the same time.

Every level has its own printable booklet and matching certificate, so children move up at their own pace and are rewarded for what they have learned.

To find out how to take part, please contact us.

Downloadable booklets, certificates and badges for each level are coming soon.
